How to Book an Amazing Cheap Vacation Package

Tips for booking a cheap holiday package
Use these nine tips to optimize the booking package.

1. Be flexible instead
You will get the cheapest holiday package if you are completely open to any destination. I recommend you choose either a desired activity (eg beach, ski, museums) or a general destination (eg Europe or South America) and then look for holiday packages that meet these more general criteria. If you are more flexible in the field, you will get a better deal. (See also: Affordable international holiday destinations)

2. Plan well in advance or book at the last minute
The best deals I have found have always been last minute trips. However, my trip to Vienna was planned about nine months in advance. It is best to plan more than three months in advance (four for summer trips) or less than two weeks. Planning a trip in just two weeks can seem scary - but you can now block the data and choose the destination later.

3. Be flexible over time
As with the flexibility of travel, flexible travelers when they leave will benefit from better deals. "Time" includes the days of travel, how long you stay, and even the time of your flight. The more flexibility you have, the cheaper the vacation package will be. 4. Be flexible on equipment
Most vacation packages include flights and hotels. Some also include a rental car, tickets to a nearby attraction or all-inclusive meals. It's best to be flexible with the equipment you want - you can always choose not to use the cards or find a rental car yourself.

5. Bring a friend (or two)
Most package holidays are calculated for two persons per person. If you are traveling alone, you will probably see a supplement. Some packages charge less per person when three or four people book together.

6. Know that you can extend your data
Long weekend package can start on a Friday and go until Monday. Do not feel limited by these data - many vacation packages allow you to extend the data for several dollars more.

7. Travel from a large airport hub
The best vacation packages are from major airports like LA, NYC, DC and Chicago. Some companies only allow you to book from these hubs. Other companies charge extra for smaller airports. If you get an extra charge for your airport, you should book this flight separately by checking if you can get a better price yourself. Just be forewarned if you are not satisfied with your first flight to the hub, you may be let down.
